Hi all
I have an RDC-850 skimmer and it works very well. When I first installed it on the new tank it went ballistic and kept overflowing over the top all the time regardless of the settings so I used a smaller skimmer until the tanks as cycled and then reinstalled it and it had been working perfectly ever since.
Until today I installed a filter sock on the end of my drain and it went nuts again. I had to raise it slightly from the water to stop it overflowing.
Now, I am not sure what I have done but I have loads of microbubbles coming from the white outlet at the bottom of the red water level adjustment pipe.

Does anyone have any idea what I have done wrong?

Give it a week and if it is still playing up start worrying about it then, the filter sock probably had something on it that made the skimmer foam, it normally doesn't last long.

I didnt realise they were so sensitive.
I have been scouring the internet looking for problems with them.
Hopefully it will improve

Give it a day or two. Set it to foam lower than normal, see what it's like tomorrow and raise the foam level if necessary. Once set it works well - my one pulled some thick nasties out.

I have lowered the foam level and raised it in the water so if it goes crazy again it wont flood anything but its still picking up some nasties.
Seeing as I have no bioload yet I am happy with it so far.

I had it raised so that the white tee where water exits was almost halfway out of the water. Red pipe was closed quite a bit. It will all work out though

I will try and raise it a little more then. Did you ever have loads of micro bubbles coming from that white tee at the bottom of the red pipe?
