I know there has been a lot of led light threads. But have been looking through quite a few.

I have an aqua reef 400 and want to change from T5 to LED lighting.
which is 127cm Long x 50cm Wide x 60cm High
So far i have been looking at:
A custom stealth led set up
Maxspect Mazarra P
Pacific sun metis hyperion s2

What i am wanting to know is what brand, model, how long you have been using it for and your results.

I've got two AI Vegas over my tank , 120x60x60 , Still early days , but the Zoas and acans have responded well to them . I think they are good value and time will tell how my SPS do under them .
I got them from Reefsmart .

I use 1x Maxspect RAZOR, but my tanks only 1m wide, so it's perfect. I do love the colours and growth is good, so can't complain.

Given the options available now, I would probably go with AI Vega's if I were to rebuild my tank or do something bigger.

I would stay away from cheap Chinese units and/or custom builds unless you know what you're doing and have done a shitload of research.

Got the controller . It is quite small and needs to be plugged in to the USB adapter all the time to provide the control to the lights . I like the features it has in such a small device .
Each light unit it run on a laptop style power supply , so everything is very compact .
The radions are nice , but too expensive for my pocket .

Thanks for that info. How far above your tank do you have them sitting?

I would be able to afford the radions they are twice the price

I used a 25ml aluminium tube mounted on two pieces of wood and then fitted two plastic clips on each light unit that I got from the electrical dept at mitre ten mega .
I screwed some aluminium channel to the two pieces of wood and now I can slide the lights back and fourth on my existing hood .
The lights can also slide up and down on the tube with a little effort , or I can rotate them at an angle .

Do yourself a favour and buy the rail and hanging kit if you get Vegas. Looks very sharp. 1400 in lights and a ugly diy mount doesn't make sense to me, especially if the tanks in the lounge or similar. I'm sure your mount Brendon is the exception ;)
