When I saw photos of the mansion the other day in the paper, I wondered if he had a fishtank. I really, really hope that nothing bad happens to the livestock. Good on The Fish Man for putting the welfare of the fish ahead of money.

Did he buy his stocks thru our same local suppliers and just grow them out or have they been brought in privately,he seems to have better stocks than us locals or is that just an illusion on the tv.
Be great if someone with contacts could get some proper pics, vids or stats before its all dismantled just as a matter of interest to those in the hobby.

Nothing impressive about the tank , except the size and location . Looks like it was mainly stocked with large leathers and yellow tangs . Would have been impressive ,if it was full of nice acros .
The fish and corals did not look like anything special .
I doubt it is the best tank in NZ , according to the " Fish Man " . I have seen more impressive .

With an "open slather" I think "Fish man" fell well short of the "best tank in NZ"

Give me a year and an open budget and I'll build a beauty :raspberry: :raspberry: :raspberry: :raspberry:

true that

be nice to know a bit about the tank before its eventualy taken down, reef must know a man who knows a man

I think maybe the bright lights of tv cameras tend to show off tanks better than our humble static photos as most tv shows that have tanks catch your eye.
perhaps as forums users we could all do with the some video editing skills lessons to show off their hard work, the better ones on youtube do tend to look impressive with all the movement,
even the wifes galaxy s2 phone takes stunningly impressive HDvideo

I don't think the tank has any more impressive stock that you can't buy. most stock has grown due to the size of the tank. most of he yellow tanks where small when first introduced. They look awesome.

Tanks is well looked after and has been set up with decent equipment. drugs free ,no chemicals added.

The leather corals look large and impressive.

After looking at the pics, his tank was definitively not the best in NZ, it has nothing on Ksmken or Reef's tanks. It might be the longest leather tank in NZ but not the best.

It might not be the best , but is has the very healthy fish and the tank chemical free, no blue bottles anywhere.

You don't need the stuff in blue bottles to grow leathers . Leathers are the easiest coral to grow .

Hopefully the nz govt release his stuff back to him.

Sounds like a genuine dude who's helped a lot of people out. Now I bet he just misses his fish.
